Countless studies have noted that, for the first time in history since the Industrial Revolution, businesses currently play host to employees from up to five different generations. Research has only gone further to confirm that there are more similarities than differences between these generations. Indeed, each generation sees itself as adaptable and innovative.
Gemma Nogales, People Development Director.
Although the moment in which we are born defines the generation we belong to, certain differences are irrefutable: experience, new qualifications, technology, innovative approaches to work, etcetera. However, the most important thing is that we all seek to add value, and this, effectively, is achieved when each and every one of us brings different skills to the table.
At Lantek, this inter-generational model is now a reality, as three different generations of employees converge. Each and every day, baby boomers, Generation X and millennials - awaiting the imminent arrival of Generation Z - all work side by side towards the same objective.
Lantek’s organizational model has evolved over the years, building a community of individuals in which each professional, regardless of the generation to which they belong, shares their experience and expertise.
The Lantek of today is an inter-generational company, devoid of all labels, comprised of people with the talent, intelligence and experience to educate and mentor one another, and therefore foster the collective intelligence of the organization. The communication of information and expertise is now part of everyone’s job.
Most importantly, this creates an exchange of expertise amongst all the groups of people that form the business, as the experience of each group enriches the other, and sharing said experience fosters an even more valuable approach.
We must always be mindful of the fact that blending expertise is essential to the birth of new ideas within the organization. Our future competitive advantage will depend upon both this enriching exchange and our constant reflection upon the bases of our sector and its business model benchmarks. Better ideas will be attained through diversity of people and perspectives, thus increasing the likelihood of success.
A unique gift exists, irrespective of age. The challenge today is giving each and every professional the opportunity to maximize it.
Fostering talent is, ultimately, the key to the development of any business. The presence of multiple generations unleashes the profitability of projects and products. The company that best succeeds in fostering a culture of generational integration will see the greatest medium/long-term results
We are very conscious of the fact that generational diversity is a fruitful source of innovation. For this very reason, we are putting our faith in an inter-generational team working towards a shared objective, built upon a firm commitment to talent development, the exchange of expertise, and digital transformation.
